When asked about dogs, we often say “Well behaved dogs we welcome, their well-behaved owners, we tolerate!!”

A little tongue in cheek, perhaps, but seriously, when it comes to dogs, we love ‘em and you are more than welcome to bring your dog with you. What is more, they stay for free.

However not all our guests are dog lovers and we do ask that you ensure that your pooch doesn’t spoil other guests’ stays with us.

Your dog is more than welcome to sit with you in the Guest Lounge, but not during Breakfast Service for obvious reasons please. The Kitchen is off limits too, as you’d expect. We ask that your dog is not left in your bedroom unattended, please put him or her in your car when you are enjoying your breakfast.

Our back garden is a great place for your dog, either to sit with you or to investigate all those interesting aromas!!

Please don’t forget to bring their bed, blanket, food and bowl, though we do have spares available if needed.

There are plenty of walks around the house, from short “comfort strolls” to longer leg stretches both for your dog and for you!! We do have a bin where you can deposit any “poop scoop” bags – we’ll point this out to you when you get here.

We very much look forward to meeting your dog(s) – and of course, you too.

Quotable Dogs

Here are a few delightful quotes, all about dogs.

“If it wasn’t for dogs, some folk would never go for a walk.” Emily Dickinson.

“Our dog chases people on a bike. We’ve had to take it off him.” Winston Churchill.

“Stroke or pat a dog and you’ll find a permanent job.” Franklin P Jones.

“Dogs are wise. They crawl away into a corner, lick their wounds and do not rejoin the world until they are whole once more.” Agatha Christie.

These quotes and more, plus some superb photos of dogs are all in a wee book – Quotable Dogs.

(For lovers of felines, there’s a Quotable Cats book too.)
